Malawi
A slither of country lies in Africa’s Great Rift Valley and about a quarter of it is Lake Malawi! Malawi, the warm heart of Africa as it is known is the most neglected yet incredible place to visit. Since 2003, African Parks has been helping to restore the premier Liwonde National Park as well as some lesser-known ones like Majete and Nkhotakota. With large scale animal relocations and rebuilding of park capacity, they are flourishing once again. The Shire River forms the spine of two of the parks and is a haven for hippos, crocs and elephants. Endangered Wild Dog and cheetah roam again some of the most majestic herds of Sable Antelope may be glimpsed in the dry season when they emerge from the woodlands.
Lake Malawi is not only large, but filled with a diverse array of freshwater fish. With numerous lodges and camps here, there is a self-contained bush and beach safari just waiting for you in this land-locked country!
