Namibia
Namibia is a land of different deserts for the most part. It is exquisite at every turn with the colours of billions of years of rock and sand exposed. With many protected areas (in fact virtually the entire 1,000-mile coastline is national park), there are some impressive and remote places to visit. Desert-adapted wildlife is the general theme as the world’s oldest desert is home to more than meets the eye! Whether by scenic flight or majestic road trip, getting around Namibia is both easy and fun.
And it’s not all about the desert animals as one can enjoy savanna species in Etosha and now also in the far north-east where there is an Okavango-like landscape to enjoy. Many of the mammals, birds, and reptiles are found nowhere else in the world, making it a rich naturalists’ and photographer’s paradise. Tracking black rhino on foot, hot air ballooning and sleeping out under the magnificent night skies are all highly recommended.
